LargeSnowCovered2.2UPDATE JUNE 2006

(Picture to left was taken in the winter of 2005/06. It shows one of my unlabeled Opuntias covered in snow).

This plant has   been moved to another bed as it is large and has been used as a central focal point. When transplanted in May of last year it didn't show any signs of growth. This season It has produced an abundance of new pads and the plant appears very healthy. Its has suffered no winter damage and has tolerated repeated low of -12 Celcius (while wet) during winter 2005/2006. This plant remains turgid and erect during the winter and doesn't shrivel like most of the other Opuntias that I grow. The plant is aproxamatly 60cm wide and 60cm tall. It has proved very tolerant of the typical wet frosty winter here in the UK. I hope that this plant will produce flowers in the next few years which should hopefully help identify it correctly.
